Thank you for visiting Therapist Marketing Tips, a weekly blog designed to demystify marketing for counsellors, hypnotherapists and other therapy professionals looking to start and grow their private practice.
Each week, I’ll be posting helpful reviews, guides, and tutorials to help you successfully market your practice via websites, social media, Search Engine Optimisation (SEO), print and offline marketing and more.
Being British myself, this blog is mainly for therapists in the UK, though much of the marketing tips and advice I offer should be applicable no matter where you practice.
Who Am I?
My name is Chris. That’s me up there, hiding in a tree.
Before I retrained as a hypnotherapist and counsellor, I worked in a number of marketing roles.
After spending a few years in a PR and communications roles, I struck out on my own and began offering freelance copywriting, WordPress web design, Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) and similar services to a range of small and media business.
I also continue to do a lot of freelance writing about subjects such as eCommerce, web design, SEO, marketing, and basically anything about running a successful business in the digital age.
Why I Started Therapist Marketing Tips
Like millions of therapists, I began working towards my therapy qualifications after multiple struggles with my own mental health.
One of the causes of such struggles was a sense of burnout from running my various marketing businesses.
I swore I was done with that world altogether and looked forward to focusing exclusively on counselling and hypnotherapy.
Then, during my training, I found myself answering a lot of questions from fellow therapy students about how to set up their business and market themselves effectively. I also spent a lot of time getting hands in helping some of my fellow newly-qualified therapists set up their websites, social media, and other marketing essentials.
I met a lot of newly qualifying therapists for whom the whole world of marketing was completely alien, and I found that I got the same tremendous amount of joy from helping them that I did from working with my clients.
I took a lot of pride in answering questions and providing support in a way that made marketing simple and easy, even for someone who has never done it before.
It occurred to me that if I was going to be spending a lot of time talking about this stuff anyway, then I may well just write it all down so that anyone struggling to navigate the process of setting up a private practice can access therapist marketing tips any time they like.
Finally, a Word About Affiliate Links
Every now and again, I’m planning to add affiliate links into these posts. That means that if you click a link and then order a product or service from that link, I get a little (and I do mean a little) commission.
That’s not the main reason why I set up this website. You won’t find me flooding every single post with affiliate links and you certainly won’t find me recommending anything that I haven’t used personally.
If there’s something that I genuinely like using, genuinely believe would be helpful to you as a therapist, and that I would recommend even if I wasn’t getting a kick-back for doing so, then yes, I’ll include affiliate links to it in the hope that eventually I might earn a few quid to cover the domain and hosting costs for this website.
